Volunteers play an important role in the development of Leeway and their participation allows us to strengthen our voice and support more people experiencing domestic abuse. With no time commitment required for some of our roles and a busy calendar of events, we always have opportunities which you may be able to help us with across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Our Leeway volunteers provide vital support without which the charity could not function. Here’s how they value the experience of helping others:

I want as many people as possible to learn about Leeway and its wonderful services, so they know that they are not alone and help is available, should they need it. I’d like to think that there is a tiny drop of my own contribution in the big battle with ending domestic abuse.”

“I had to flee from domestic violence with my children so I have some insight into the life of other woman and children who live in the refuge. I volunteer with Leeway because I wanted to give something back. I felt welcomed into Leeway from day one and I can honestly say I have got more back than I have ever given. Seeing the pleasure on children's faces at play groups and seeing mothers being able to enjoy family life again in a safe place is priceless. I feel proud to be part of that and to be part of the Leeway family.”
“I started working as a volunteer for Leeway a short while ago. Being older, I was uncertain about how I would fit in and my ability. However, I needn’t have worried as everyone is very kind and helpful. It is an exceptional and complex organisation, with compassionate staff always on hand to help.
